Experimental photonics group

Metasurfaces are artificial ultrathin nanomaterials with unique optical properties designed by nano-structuring, together with material composition. The metasurfaces allow for the manipulation of optical beams and wavefronts with great efficiency, enabling design of flat optical elements, including lenses, holograms, and nonlinear frequency converters. Our research aims to test the fundamentals of linear and nonlinear properties of optical metasurface and how they enhance light matter interactions.

Based on this unique platform, the group is working on new types of applications in bio, nano and quantum technologies. The research projects in the group include:

The group is a part of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Transformative Meta-Optical Systems.
